Dr. Denise Stoney-James

Dr. Denise Stoney-James has been the Deputy Programme Manager for Education at the CARICOM Secretariat since January 2022. She holds a PhD in Education from the University of the West Indies, Mona; Masters Degrees in Teaching and in Educational Technology from York University and The University of British Columbia, respectively. She has over twenty-five years of experience teaching at the basic education and tertiary levels.
A trained educational technologist and instructional designer, she has extensive experience in ICT integration in the teaching/learning context and professional development of teachers, pedagogy, and mobile technologies in the classroom. Dr Stoney-James is also keenly interested in education policy planning and development, teaching standards, Technical and Vocational Education and Training (TVET), and micro-credentialing.
She is passionate about exploring the use of Open Educational Resources (OERs), the potential of generative artificial intelligence in the classroom, and its impact on pedagogy. With a strong commitment to advancing quality, access, and equity in the basic education and skills for lifelong learning sectors in the CARICOM Region, Dr. Stoney James plays a crucial role in developing policies and frameworks that foster resilient and sustainable education systems.
